A Quiet Time

A Quiet Time

A Quiet Time

Hello Everyone!

Well, this has been an interesting past week. A lot has been happening in my life lately. I've been wanting and needing some downtime these past few weeks/months. I moved states, from Los Angeles, CA, to Atlanta, GA. Even though I've moved a lot throughout my life, it always takes a toll, both mentally and physically. I am at a point in my life where change, or the acceptance of change can be a bit overwhelming. Yet with age, comes wisdom. One thing I've learned as I've gotten older is that when your body needs a rest day, you take one. I know there are so many things we have to do on a day-to-day basis. But I know what happens when I refuse to listen to my body.

We have to remember that we are not robots, and our bodies need to rest. We have this mentality that we need to keep constantly moving, doing this and that, without a conscious thought of why. Sometimes we need to take a step back, take a deep breath, and slow down. It is important to check with ourselves every day. It doesn’t have to take a long time, even if it’s just a few minutes a day. Taking a day to be with ourselves, can help us feel refreshed, and keep our cups full. Today, take the time to quiet your mind, take a few deep breaths, and spend some time with yourself. You will thank yourself later.

Some of the things that I’ve done in the past to help me have been: Meditation, affirmations, sleep, taking a walk, watching my favorite show, among other things. Even something as simple as watching the sun rise or set. One size does not fit all, you can choose what works for you, and try it. If meditation is something you are interested in, there are many videos on YouTube you can choose from. Writing your thoughts down is also a great way to focus and quiet your mind.

Whatever you choose to do, don’t feel guilty doing it. You deserve quiet time for yourself. Just remember you cannot pour from an empty cup.

Wishing you all a great week!
